NiceFOTO 2011: AN INTERNATIONAL CELEBRATION OF AMATEUR PHOTOGRAPHY
08th October, 2011
Delhi Photography Club (a non profit initiative) is proud to present the first of its kind exhibition of celebrating amateur photography across the world. Nicefoto 2011, as the name suggests is an exhibition where people across age and countries participated with enthusiasm and passion. We received as many as 2600 entries from more than 5 countries. On display are 110 photos from enthusiasts aged between 7 years and 58 years from more than 20 cities. Enthusiasts from as far as Norway to Ratlam have sent in their photographs!
This is a unique concept. Photography has remained either in the realm of art or in the 'auto mode' in your camera. Until now, most opportunities and options existed only for those who took photography as a vocation or as an art. This is for the first time, that an exhibition is being held for enthusiasts who simply wish to show their photos and feel happy. The exhibition displays photos clicked by children, students, working professionals, government officials, homemakers, scholars, and professionals from various fields.
"Look at the camera you have, chances are you haven't used it beyond the auto mode. When we started looking around, we observed that there are photography enthusiasts that require help in identifying situations, motivation, a technique and a platform. With this exhibition, we have been able to create the platform for all these enthusiasts.", says Anil Kumar, founder of the club.
The exhibition is on display from 8th to 14th October at the Experimental Art Gallery, India Habitat Center, Lodhi Road, New Delhi. Selected photos from the exhibition will travel to other countries of the world and will be showcased in similar exhibitions, thus creating a global platform for photography enthusiasts.
